Gabourey Sidibe is fiercely guarding her children’s privacy, choosing to keep them away from the glare of fame.
The Precious star, 41, who welcomed twins Cooper and Maya 11 months ago with husband Brandon Frankel, opened up about motherhood while discussing her new Lifetime film, Give Me Back My Daughter.
“I’m protective of my kids, but because of my career, I expose them to a world I hope they never fully see,” Sidibe said. “I’d love to hide the world from them as long as possible—I’ll just tell them I’m a teacher.”
She laughed, adding that her household is intentionally “very normal,” with strict no-screen-time rules for her babies.
Though Sidibe acknowledges the irony of her fame, she and Frankel strive for an ordinary home life.
“We try to keep things simple,” she said, admitting that while she occasionally shares glimpses of her twins on Instagram for distant family, the overwhelming attention still catches her off guard. “I’ll post something as a normal mom, then suddenly there are thousands of comments, and I think, Nope, too much.”
Despite her public career, Sidibe remains determined to shield her children from Hollywood’s chaos—at least until they’re old enough to understand it.
