Country star Carly Pearce is opening up about her ongoing health journey after being diagnosed with pericarditis in 2024. The 34-year-old singer revealed that doctors initially dismissed her concerns before she finally received her diagnosis of the heart condition, which causes inflammation of the tissue surrounding the heart.
“I’m doing a lot better,” Pearce shared with Fox News, “but I’m still on a health journey, hoping this recurrent pericarditis doesn’t keep recurring.” She described experiencing “debilitating chest pain” that worsened when lying down, along with intense shortness of breath—classic symptoms of the condition.
Pearce is now urging others to advocate for their health, just as she did. “A lot of doctors dismissed me,” she said. “My biggest advice? Listen to your body and push for answers.”
The Grammy winner first shared her diagnosis in a heartfelt Instagram video last May while on tour with Tim McGraw. “I’ve always been honest with you all, so I wanted to share this,” she told fans. Though she had to modify her performances to keep her heart rate stable, Pearce remained determined to stay onstage. “I’m young, healthy, and this still happened to me,” she said. “Take care of your body—it will tell you when something’s wrong.”
Now, Pearce is adjusting to her “new normal,” managing flare-ups while continuing to perform. Her story serves as a powerful reminder that health struggles can affect anyone—and persistence can make all the difference.
