Despite currently being incarcerated at MDC Los Angeles, Lil Durk has unveiled his latest musical offering – the 20-track Deep Thoughts album released Friday (March 28).
The Chicago rapper’s management team executed his creative vision from behind bars, delivering a project featuring collaborations with Future, Lil Baby, Hunxho, and Jhené Aiko.
The album arrives as Durk continues to dominate the charts, with the RIAA announcing 53 new certifications for his work on Thursday – pushing his career total to 52.5 million units and placing him among the top 50 certified artists of all time.
A companion mini-documentary reveals Durk’s ambitious mindset during the album’s creation, with the rapper insisting: “We gotta start thinking in that box and get out the little box of thinking…This shit really Deep Thoughts.”
Durk faces serious legal troubles, having been arrested in October 2024 on federal murder-for-hire charges related to a 2022 shooting that allegedly targeted rapper Quando Rondo but killed another individual.
With his trial set for October 2025, Deep Thoughts marks Durk’s first full-length release since 2023’s Almost Healed, proving his musical output remains uninterrupted despite his incarceration.
