Country music star Luke Combs has opened up about his lifelong struggle with purely obsessional obsessive-compulsive disorder (Pure O OCD) in a candid interview with 60 Minutes Australia.
The 35-year-old singer, who has dealt with the condition since he was 12, described how intrusive, unwanted thoughts trigger stress and anxiety, creating a relentless cycle.
Combs shared that he experienced one of his “worst flare-ups” earlier this year while on tour in Australia, calling the condition “particularly wicked” due to its overwhelming nature.
Despite the challenges, Combs has learned to manage his symptoms by accepting the thoughts rather than fighting them.
He hopes to use his platform to support others, especially young people, who face similar struggles, emphasizing that it’s possible to live a successful and fulfilling life while managing mental health challenges.
His message is one of resilience and hope, encouraging others not to let their condition define them.
