David Pollack Reveals Wife’s Brain Cancer Battle Ahead of Surgery

Former ESPN anchor David Pollack shared a deeply personal update on Monday, revealing that his wife, Lindsey Pollack, is set to undergo brain surgery as she battles brain cancer. The 42-year-old, who was let go by ESPN in 2023, took to X for prayers and support ahead of the procedure scheduled for Wednesday at Duke University.

“I don’t usually share much about my personal life on social media, but today is different,” Pollack wrote. “If you’re the praying type, please lift up my wife Lindsey. She has brain cancer, and her surgery is this Wednesday. I’m so thankful to serve a loving God who meets us in our struggles.”

While Lindsey typically stays out of the public eye, she and David have been active in their community through the Pollack Family Foundation, which promotes exercise, proper nutrition, and awareness of childhood obesity. The couple shares two children: Nicholas, a high school junior, and Leah, a sophomore.

Before his broadcasting career, Pollack was a standout college football player at the University of Georgia, earning first-team All-American honors three times. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2005 but suffered a career-ending neck injury in his second season. Despite the setback, Pollack transitioned to sports media, joining ESPN in 2009 and co-hosting College GameDay.

However, his time at ESPN was not without controversy. In 2013, Pollack faced backlash for stating that women, including former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, shouldn’t serve on the College Football Playoff selection committee because they hadn’t played the sport. More recently, in November 2023, he sparked debate by opposing transgender women competing in women’s sports, calling it a “transfer portal for mediocre male athletes.”

We wish Lindsey a successful surgery and hope that she will be in better health after the procedure. Well wishes to the Pollacks.
