She alerted emergency responders, who arrived at the scene at 6:29 p.m. Despite their efforts, Wheesung was pronounced dead.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of death but confirmed there were no signs of foul play.

He was found in cardiac arrest at his residence and was later pronounced dead,” the agency said. “We are deeply sorrowful and ask for privacy during this difficult time.”

Wheesung, whose real name is Choi Whee-sung, debuted in 2002 and quickly rose to fame with his powerful vocals and heartfelt lyrics.

Over the years, he became one of South Korea’s most beloved R&B and soul artists, releasing numerous hit songs that resonated with fans.

However, his career faced challenges in 2021 when he was convicted of habitual propofol use, a sedative often misused recreationally.

He received a one-year prison sentence, which was suspended for two years. Despite this setback, Wheesung continued to pursue his passion for music.

At the time of his passing, Wheesung had been preparing for a performance alongside singer KCM in the southeastern city of Daegu, scheduled for Saturday.
