Comedian Chelsea Handler has once again shared her thoughts on the ongoing legal dispute between actors Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, likening their public clash to a childish playground squabble. During a recent interview, the 49-year-old humorist didn’t hold back in her critique of the escalating conflict between the It Ends With Us co-stars.
“The reason this situation has turned into such a frenzy is that they keep releasing more and more information,” Handler remarked, referring to the 37-year-old Lively and 41-year-old Baldoni. “They need to stop.
At this point, they’re only making things worse for themselves.” She went on to compare the situation to breaking up a fight among children, quipping, “It’s like watching a schoolyard brawl. Doesn’t anyone know when to stop? Isn’t someone stepping in to say, ‘Enough is enough’?”
Handler, whose seventh book, ‘I’ll Have What She’s Having’, was released on February 25, had previously joked about the legal drama while hosting the Critics Choice Awards on February 7.
During her monologue, she humorously acknowledged the pair’s feud, stating, “In tough times, we all need a distraction, and that’s why I want to personally thank Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively.” She added, “I think we’re all grateful—and I think we’re good. No matter whose side you’re on, we can all agree that there probably won’t be a sequel to this mess.”
The legal battle between Lively and Baldoni began in December when Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, her co-star and director in IT ENDS WITH US, as well as his PR team and members of his production company, Wayfarer Studios.
The lawsuit included allegations of sexual harassment and retaliation. Baldoni, who has vehemently denied the claims, retaliated with his own lawsuit in January. His legal action targeted Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, their publicist, and The New York Times, accusing them of defamation and extortion, among other charges.
As the legal drama continues to unfold, Handler’s comments highlight the public’s fascination with the high-profile feud. Her humorous yet pointed observations underscore the absurdity of the situation, as both parties remain embroiled in a contentious and very public battle. Whether the conflict will reach a resolution anytime soon remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: it has certainly captured the attention of both the media and the public.
Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, co-stars of It Ends With Us, are embroiled in a bitter legal battle, with a trial set for March 2026 after mediation efforts failed. Lively initially sued Baldoni, alleging sexual harassment and retaliation, which his legal team called “false, outrageous, and salacious.” Baldoni countersued, accusing Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and others of defamation and extortion—claims Lively’s team dismissed as “desperate” and “meritless.” During a recent pre-trial conference, a judge warned both sides against airing their dispute in the media. The high-profile feud continues to escalate, drawing widespread public and media attention.
