The Son of former YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki was discovered deceased at the University of California, Berkeley, on Tuesday, according to statements made by his grandmother on Facebook.
A student residing at the Clark Kerr Campus, a student housing facility, was found unresponsive on Tuesday around 4:23 p.m. local time, as indicated by UC Berkeley spokesperson Janet Gilmore. Esther Wojcicki, the victim’s grandmother, confirmed his passing and shared his identity in a post made on Facebook the following Wednesday.
Esther Wojcicki expressed profound grief over the loss of her beloved grandson, Marco Troper, aged 19. She described him as an exceptional individual, possessing qualities of kindness, intelligence, and warmth.
Emergency services, including the Berkeley Fire Department, were summoned to the scene, where they endeavored to administer life-saving measures to the student. Unfortunately, upon the arrival of campus police, it was determined that he had already succumbed to his condition.
According to Gilmore, there were no indications of foul play, and an investigation into the circumstances of the incident is currently underway.
Troper, in his second semester as a freshman at UC Berkeley, was enthusiastic about his pursuit of a mathematics degree, according to his grandmother. She noted that he was thriving academically and had cultivated strong relationships within his dormitory and fraternity.
