Actress Kirstie Alley Dead, Family Annouces what Killed her.

Kirstie Alley died of cancer, her family and management revealed Monday. She was 71.

True and Lillie Parker commented on Alley’s Twitter that their “wonderful, feisty and loving mother” had died following a fight with cancer. “She battled with incredible vigor, leaving us convinced of her never-ending delight of life and future experiences. She was just as legendary as a mother and grandma.”

Alley, born in Wichita, Kansas, in 1951, portrayed Lieutenant Saavik in “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan” in 1982.
“One More Chance,” “Blind Date,” and “Runaway” followed.

In 1987, she succeeded Shelley Long on “Cheers” and stayed until the show’s end. 1991 Emmy Award for best lead actress in a comedy series. Later, she won another Emmy for “David’s Mother” The next year, she got a Walk of Fame star.

In 1997, Alley appeared in “Veronica’s Closet” as a New York lingerie store owner. Three seasons aired.

Later in her career, she had her own program, “Kirstie,” in which she portrayed Maddie Banks, a Tony Award-winning actress whose baby she gave up at birth returns. The program aired from December 2013 through July 2014.

She informed the judges, “They’ll like it.” John Travolta posted a picture of him and Alley on Instagram after learning of her passing. “Kirstie was an unique connection,” he wrote. ” Kirstie! We’ll meet again.”
