Beauty queen and model Güler Erdogan, 27, has died after falling from a bridge onto a motorway in Giresun, Turkey, on April 1. Reports indicate she was fleeing police after failing a breathalyser test, with authorities confirming her blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit.
According to local media, Erdogan—who held the Miss Europe-Kosovo title—attempted to escape on foot after being stopped at a checkpoint but lost her balance on an overpass, plummeting 50 feet before being struck by a car. Emergency services pronounced her dead at the scene.
Her family has disputed initial reports, insisting her death was a “tragic accident” and that they were present at the time. In a statement posted on her now-deactivated Instagram, they urged the public: “Do not believe the false news and information regarding the death of our daughter, sister, and friend.”
The incident echoes the recent loss of Australian DJ Courtney Mills, who died in January after a balcony fall in Bali. Erdogan’s sudden passing has left fans and the pageant community in mourning, remembering her as a vibrant and accomplished public figure. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
