Michelle Williams and her husband, director Thomas Kail, have expanded their family once again. The couple recently welcomed their third child together via surrogate, People reports, marking Williams’ fourth child overall. The newborn arrived approximately six weeks ago, and the family of six has since been spotted enjoying outings in New York City.
Williams, 44, first became a mother in 2005 when she welcomed daughter Matilda with her late partner, Brokeback Mountain co-star Heath Ledger. After Ledger’s tragic passing in 2008, Williams found love again with Kail, 48, whom she met while working on FX’s Fosse/Verdon in 2018. The couple got engaged in late 2019 and secretly married in March 2020, just before welcoming their first son, Hart, that June.
In 2022, Williams opened up about the joy of expecting another child, telling Variety, “It’s exciting to discover that something you want again and again is available one more time. That good fortune is not lost on me or my family.” Later that year, they welcomed their second child together, whose name they have kept private.
A source previously shared with Us Weekly how seamlessly Kail has blended into their family, particularly in his role as a supportive figure to Matilda. “Matilda is a very mature and intelligent young lady,” the insider said in November 2022, adding that Kail has been a “wonderful father figure” to her. The source also noted that Williams and Kail were “soaking up the joy” of parenthood, calling their growing family a “dream come true.”
Williams has yet to publicly confirm the new arrival, but the couple’s latest addition completes their loving household of six.
