Glen Powell played coy when asked about his relationship with Anyone But You co-star Sydney Sweeney after the actress attended his sister Leslie’s Texas wedding over the weekend—just weeks after Sweeney’s split from fiancé Jonathan Davino.
During his April 3 appearance on Today with Jenna & Friends, the Top Gun: Maverick star, 36, confirmed Sweeney, 27, was among the guests at the “fun, rowdy” celebration but dodged romance speculation. “Timing is everything in this world,” Powell joked when host Jenna Bush Hager brought up the headlines. “[Leslie] and Syd are obviously great friends, and it was a hell of a wedding.”
Powell, who served as a groomsman and emcee, gushed about his sister’s big day, calling his new brother-in-law “the best guy” and teasing, “The Powells know how to crank it up!”
After photos surfaced of the pair dining at Dallas’ Joe Leo Fine Tex Mex before the wedding, fans questioned if they were a couple—but Powell’s mother, Cyndy, swiftly shut down rumors. “They’re definitely not together,” she told the Daily Mail on April 1, calling the speculation “silly.” “We love Sydney. We’ve considered her just a really, really good friend.”
This isn’t the first time the co-stars have faced dating rumors. After their sizzling chemistry in Anyone But You (2023), Sweeney told PEOPLE they leaned into the hype for the film’s promotion: “We sold a rom-com. We were just filming a fun, amazing movie.”
For now, it seems Powell and Sweeney are sticking to their story—and his family’s endorsement of their platonic bond.
