Kanye West has sparked controversy with the release of his new song, “Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine,” which features his 10-year-old daughter, North West, despite objections from her mother, Kim Kardashian. The track, which Kanye posted on X on March 15, also includes contributions from Sean “Diddy” Combs—who is currently jailed on federal sex crime charges—and Diddy’s son, Christian “King” Combs, as well as an alleged new Yeezy artist, Jasmine Williams.
The song opens with a phone conversation between Kanye and Diddy, where Diddy expresses gratitude for Kanye’s support in caring for his children. Kanye responds, “Yeah, absolutely, I love you so much, man. It’s like, you raised me.” North West delivers a brief verse, repeating the line, “When you see me shinin’, then you see the light.”
Before releasing the track, Kanye shared screenshots of text messages with Kardashian, in which she expressed concerns about North’s involvement in the song. “I sent paperwork over so she wouldn’t be in the Diddy song,” Kardashian reportedly wrote. “To protect her.” Kanye responded with a threatening tone, stating, “Amend it or I’m going to war,” and adding, “You’re going to have to kill me.” He captioned the post, “This shows that I’m not playing.”
However, Kanye has since deleted both the song and the text screenshots from his X account. According to sources, Kardashian had reportedly issued a cease-and-desist letter to prevent the song’s release, and Kanye initially agreed not to drop it. Sources claim Kardashian “called everyone she could” to stop the song from being made public. Despite the drama, Kardashian has remained silent about the song and Kanye’s recent social media behavior.
The release of “Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine” has reignited discussions about Kanye’s contentious relationship with Kardashian and his ongoing legal and personal controversies. Despite her mother’s objections, the inclusion of North in the track has added another layer of complexity to the situation.
