At the awards ceremony, Carey was honored with the prestigious Icon Award. Paak, seated beside her in the audience, was visibly supportive, even assisting her as she made her way to the stage.
During her acceptance speech, Carey took a playful moment to check the lighting before thanking iHeartRadio’s president, her team, and her devoted fans, whom she affectionately calls the “Lambily.”
She also paid a heartfelt tribute to her late mother, Patricia Carey, who passed away in August 2024. “On this St. Patrick’s Day, I want to honor my mother, Patricia Carey, for giving me the gift of music,” Carey said.
Rumors about Carey and Paak’s relationship began in December 2024 when they were spotted hand-in-hand in Aspen, Colorado, shortly after Carey’s Christmas Time tour ended. At the time, sources claimed their relationship was strictly professional, with the two collaborating on music at Carey’s Aspen studio.
However, their recent appearance at the iHeartRadio Music Awards has reignited speculation. Notably, Paak filed for divorce from his wife, Jae Lin, in early 2024, while Carey has been single since her split from dancer Bryan Tanaka in late 2022.
