Big Sean Opens Up About Fatherhood and the Joys of Raising His Son Noah

Big Sean is embracing the joys and surprises of being a first-time dad to his 2-year-old son, Noah, whom he shares with partner Jhené Aiko. The 36-year-old rapper, whose real name is Sean Michael Leonard Anderson, recently opened up about his parenting journey on The Jennifer Hudson Show, sharing how fatherhood has transformed his life.

“It’s my first time being a parent, a dad,” Big Sean admitted. “I didn’t know what I was in for.” He gushed about his son, saying, “He’s amazing. I’m in love with my son—I can’t even lie. Everything about him is just incredible.”

Noah, it seems, has inherited the best traits from both sides of his family. “He has the charm of my dad and the spirit of his mom,” Sean shared. “He’s just the best of all of us put together. When you have a child, they’re a culmination of all your family members. It’s like all that DNA is a computer, and all that information is in them.”

With two musically gifted parents, Noah is already showing signs of following in their footsteps. “He picks up that mic and has a beautiful voice like his mom,” Sean said proudly. “He has range and everything. He’s very vocal, expressive, and smart.”

Big Sean and Jhené Aiko, who have been together since 2016, have been open about their path to parenthood. In 2020, Sean revealed that the couple had experienced a miscarriage, a loss that deeply affected them. Speaking on the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast in January, Sean reflected on the experience, offering words of hope to others who have faced similar challenges.

“I don’t want people to think that because they have a miscarriage, they’re inadequate or broken,” he said. “This life is complex, and there are things we do and don’t understand. There’s beauty in everything that’s meant for you.”

He encouraged those struggling with loss to remain open to the possibilities of how life can bring blessings in unexpected ways. “You may get blessed with a child later on, or a child may come into your life a different way,” he explained. “Sometimes we get so set on a goal that we don’t keep the rest of our doors open to how the universe could bless us.”

For Big Sean, fatherhood has been a transformative experience filled with love, growth, and gratitude. As he continues to navigate this new chapter, he remains committed to cherishing every moment with Noah and sharing his journey with honesty and vulnerability.
