Jackie Jean Crouch was born in 1926 to 13-year-old Lynda Inez Gulley and 21-year-old baker Roy Malloy Crouch. Holt is English, German, Irish, French, Dutch, and Cherokee. She often visited her divorced parents. Holt attended 17 middle schools. Her father taught her guitar and singing.
Mean while In the 1950s, Holt appeared in A Life of Her Own, Watch the Birdie, Grounds for Marriage, Father’s Little Dividend, and Lovely to Look At. She later appeared on Ozzie and Harriet, I Love Lucy, Jane Wyman’s Fireside Theatre, and The Lucy Show. In recent years, she appeared as herself, notably on RuPaul’s Drag Race with grandson Chaz Bono.
She also performed “Get Your Act Together” in Los Angeles in July 1978. Cher told people in 2013 about things she’d learned from Holt, particularly growing up with her and her sister.
Holt’s tale was presented in a documentary in which she and many of her family, including Cher and Bartylak and their children, and Holt’s grandkids, Chaz Bono and Elijah Blue Allman, all had a chance to share their memories of her. Cher has remarked that her mother never offered her or her sister any advise since she knew they would ignore it. Instead, we gained wisdom by listening to her reflect on her successes and failures in life.
By the time Holt was 21, she had already been married three times. Sarkisian, John Southall, Joseph Harper Collins, Chris Alcaide, financier Gilbert La Pierre (who raised Cher and Georganne), Sarkisian again, and Hamilton Holt were all her husbands. Craig Spencer, who used to sell antiques but is now a musician, was her boyfriend for a long time.
Holt “emphasized the significance of being sure that the person you are with is the person you love,” Cher added, adding that Holt “probably would have been married only once” if she had been born at a different period. Holt was married and divorced six times.

The 76-year-old artist made the announcement on Twitter early on Saturday morning. Cher tweeted, “Mom is gone,” with a sad face emoji, to express her grief. It’s been three months since the pop starlet posted on Twitter that her mother had been hospitalized with pneumonia in September.
