Brooklyn Rapper Sheff G, Who Campaigned With Trump, Pleads Guilty to Attempted Murder

New York rapper Sheff G, whose real name is Michael Williams, has admitted to attempted murder and conspiracy charges in a Brooklyn courtroom, agreeing to a five-year prison sentence.

The 26-year-old artist, known for his drill music with millions of online streams, was accused of financing and directing gang violence through his music earnings.

Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez stated that Williams “used his fame to fund and direct violence” as part of the 8 Trey Crips and its affiliate, 9 Ways gang. Prosecutors detailed how the rapper allegedly rewarded gang members with cash and jewelry for attacks, even serving as a getaway driver in a 2021 shooting that injured two bystanders.

Evidence included surveillance footage, social media posts, and lyrics that allegedly referenced criminal acts.

The case also involves fellow rapper Sleepy Hallow (Tegan Chambers), who joined Sheff G in appearing alongside Donald Trump at a 2024 Bronx campaign rally. Trump had highlighted both artists as examples of Black supporters during his presidential bid, where Sheff G praised him, saying, “Trump is going to shout the wins for all of us.”

Sheff G’s attorney, Arthur Aidala, said his client accepted the plea deal after reviewing the evidence. The rapper faces sentencing in August, while Sleepy Hallow’s case continues, with a court date set for April. Over 30 alleged gang members have been indicted in the sweeping investigation into Brooklyn’s violent gang conflicts.
