Wendy Williams Hospitalized After Plea for Help

Wendy Williams was rushed to the hospital on Monday, March 10, following a welfare check at her assisted living facility in New York. According to the New York Police Department, authorities responded to the facility after receiving concerns about her well-being. Williams was escorted out by EMS and taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Reports revealed that earlier that morning, Williams had dropped a note from her window that read, “Help! Wendy!!” The 60-year-old former talk show host has been under a legal guardianship since May 2022, which oversees her finances and health.

Her court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, has stated that Williams is “cognitively impaired, permanently disabled, and legally incapacitated.”

Williams, however, has repeatedly denied these claims. In a January interview on The Breakfast Club, she expressed frustration, saying, “I am not cognitively impaired, but I feel like I am in prison.”

She described her living situation as restrictive, with locked elevators, limited visitors, and no freedom to come and go as she pleases. Williams also claimed she was unaware of the medications being administered to her.

Following her radio appearance, Morrissey requested a new medical evaluation, according to court documents. Williams further opened up about her struggles in the February documentary TMZ Presents: Saving Wendy Williams, revealing she couldn’t recall the last time she had seen a medical professional since her 2023 dementia diagnosis.

“It’s been a long while,” she said, adding that she hadn’t seen a doctor during her time in Connecticut or at her current facility.

During a recent appearance on NewsNation’s Banfield, Williams shared more about her living conditions, describing her environment as “very suffocating.”

She explained, “I’m on the fifth floor, which they call ‘the memory unit,’ for people who don’t remember anything. I’ve been here for almost a year now, and it’s overwhelming.”
