After Elon Musk’s restrictions, Twitter goes dark.
The CEO of the Embattled Social App said in order to combat scraping, he limited users’ access to tweets.
To counteract automated algorithms that scour tweets for relevant data, Twitter CEO Elon Musk stated on Saturday that the company will temporarily restrict the amount of tweets individuals may read every day, with different limitations for premium and free users..
It’s not known how long the restrictions will be in place or what would have to change for them to be lifted. A message seeking response from Musk went unanswered.
Musk stated that unverified users would only have access to 1,000 posts per day, while verified accounts will have access to 10,000 posts per day. After Saturday’s update, unverified users may only see 500 posts each day. Changes were made after the business received a lot of criticism for its original Saturday afternoon tweet restriction of 6,000 for verified users, 600 for unverified users, and 300 for new accounts.
